My stance on gay marriage and America.

To be totally honest, I can’t even believe that this topic is still being debated in this country. When America was settled, it was founded on a few solid beliefs. Out of those was the right to ‘freedom of religion.’ Many disagreed with the Church of England and thus came here for relief to freely live their lives as they chose. America was never “God’s land.” It never has and most likely never will be a Christian country. In fact, it will never have ANY religion associated with it. Yes, the majority may be Christians, but thank God since we are lucky to live in a FREE LAND where not everyone is forced to believe such views. How would you feel if you were the minority religion? I’m sure many would feel differently if the situation was reversed and you could not freely express your beliefs because the majority did not agree with them.

I don’t believe I will ever understand how people can sit there and tell others that they may not marry because it is offensive to their religion/morals/beliefs/etc. It is not your right to say so. It’s offensive? I’m so sorry to hear that. Move on. These people marrying legally is no right of yours. It does not concern you. It in fact, will probably not change ANY factors in your day by day routines. America is about EQUALITY. By not allowing gays to marry you are simply DENYING their rights as a citizen. There is not another way to put it. They are being treated unfairly because of someone else’s view on how they should live their life.

I am a Christian myself. Catholic in fact. I believe there is a God. I believe in heaven and hell. I believe in grace. And i believe in love. I also believe the fact that the only person the has the right to judge another’s sins is the Lord himself. Not some person condemning another for loving someone the same sex as them because they feel “uncomfortable.” If they want to make the choice to be gay let them. Either way, it should be THEIR choice. No one else’s. This is America, where equality is provided for all. Where everyone has the right to the pursuit of happiness. INCLUDING gays.
